Kaffees von Gesha Village sind nach Panama Geishas wohl das zuverlässig krasseste, was man so kaufen kann – und der hier gemessen daran sogar vergleichsweise bezahlbar. Das Gesha Village war lange die einzige private Kaffeefarm in Äthiopien und hat als Forschungseinrichtung einen Sonderstatus, sodass es seinen Kaffee bereits am ECX (Ethiopian Coffee Exchange) vorbei direkt verkaufen konnte, bevor andere das auch konnten. Es liegt am Ursprungsort der legendären Gesha-Varietäten, darunter „Gesha 1931“ und „Gori Gesha“: Satt floral, viel Steinobst, dichte Süße. Weniger elegant als die Verwandten aus Panama, aber deutlich satter.

Bluebird says:
„Gesha Village is one of the most celebrated coffee producers in the world. With the goal to be the most environmentally conscious coffee farm in Ethiopia, Gesha Village has consistently produced competition quality coffees while looking after the land and local people. We tasted a dozen or more samples this year and time after time, landed on this naturally processed lot over the more experimentally processed options. We enjoyed the clean, sweet, floral and fruit forward characteristics of this coffee that celebrate classic Ethiopian gesha profiles. We felt it was more true to terroir, which is always the goal when selecting coffees.“
