We are delighted to share our final offering from Marysabel and Moises’ 2021 harvests with you all. We were lucky to be sent this sample back when we were in lockdown in late spring last year and we were simply blown away by this very floral and elegant coffee, which turned out to be the rare variety java.

Java is a variety that was taken from Ethiopia and spread through the Island of Java, Cameroon, and later found its way to Central America through Nicaragua. It is typically an elongated shaped bean that has superior cup qualities when grown at higher altitudes. This particular lot has been washed and dried on raised beds.

Marysabel Caballero and her husband Moises Herrera own and manage 17 farms in the region of La Paz. Marysabel ́s Father Don Fabio Caballero inherited large areas of land in and around Marcala from his Father, who was one of the pioneers of coffee cultivation in Honduras. The reputation of the family is strong and their progressive approach towards farming and quality of production has seen them become the most notable family to buy coffee from in Honduras.
